Today, we're joined by mental health Expert-in-residence Desiree Sanchez-Rainey, MSW and dive into the fascinating world of Labels--the labels we give ourselves and the labels applied to us by others. We'll chat about stigma, self-identity, and how a seemingly innocent label can sometimes take on a heavier, more negative meaning.

From the lighthearted 'nerd' to the weightier 'depressed' or 'crazy,' we'll delve into the effects these labels can have on individuals.

Plus, we'll take a look at how last summer's Barbie movie ties into our cultural narrative, offering insights into how everyday perceptions are formed.

Come along with us on this journey as we explore the power of language and its impact on our lives.

This episode may include discussions on topics that could be triggering or distressing. Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 9-8-8 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) 24/7 for immediate help.

Desiree Sanchez-Rainey, MSW is currently a Crisis Responder at the Veterans and Military Crisis Line as an employee of the Veterans Health Administration. Previously, Desiree worked in many facets of the child welfare system where her goal was to prevent removal of children from families and reunite families that had experienced child removal.
